The Alfa Romeo MiTo revamps its technological details while maintaining its consolidated image as a sporty compact, capable of winning over motorists who demand care for details, Italian style and technical excellence for rewarding driving style. Design
The  range introduces some important new style features, starting from the new redesigned grille completed by a chrome-plated frame to create a family connection to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, making the front of the car look more streamlined. However, the Alfa Romeo MiTo retains the frameless side windows, the three-lobed design that distinguishes the front bumper, the oblong almost cartoon-like shape of the headlights (outlined in chrome ‘mascara’) and the ‘stove plate’ LED tail-lights.

Performance
The Alfa Romeo MiTo features an extensive range of superb engines, packed with the latest technology and bursting with performance. Not to mention the fact that Alfa Romeo power units are distinguished by their unmistakable Alfa Romeo sound that emphasises the unique nature of the car. New to the range is the new 105 HP 0.9 TwinAir Turbo distinguished by its dazzling personality and low fuel consumption. Combined with a six-speed manual gearbox and with the DNA selector in Dynamic position, the new engine delivers 72kW (105hp) at 5500 rpm and a peak torque of 145 Nm at 2000 rpm. The 0.9 TwinAir Turbo needs 4.5-litres of fuel per 100km. The power unit accelerated the Alfa Romeo MiTo from 0 to 100km/h in 11.4 seconds and has a top speed of 184km/h. Other petrol power units available include a 52kW (70hp) 1.4-litre, 58kW (78hp) 1.4-litre, 100kW (135hp) 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo Petrol (with manual gearbox or Alfa TCT automatic transmission) and the 126kW (170hp) 1.4 MultiAir Turbo Petrol.

Interior
The Alfa MiTo measures 4.06 metres long, 1.44 metres high and 1.72 metres, which provides excellent interior space. This makes for an outstanding amount of room for both driver and passengers. There are four new upholstery combinations to choose from two new Evoluzione fabrics (Black/Titanium or Black/Red) for Distinctive, the QV Sportiva pack with a new sporty seat and white inserts (available for Distinctive only) and the new Heritage Black fabric with electrically welded Alfa Romeo badge.
Rear seats
The Alfa Romeo MiTo driving position is spot on while the comfortable and supportive front seats give the driver a clear view of the road ahead. The steering wheel is adjustable both in height and position. The rear accommodation is spacious and roomy enough for two adults. The boot volume measures 270-litres. It can be increased further by folding down the rear seats.

Verdict
The Alfa MiTo is a truly likable hatchback. Thanks to the latest updates, it’s now a fun one as well. Given that it is also well equipped, good looking, cheap to run and practical, there is more reason than ever to want this junior Alfa. Sadly, the Alfa Romeo brand is not represented by any franchise holder at the moment.
